Sender: Coralfish
Port Olympic, Barcelona
Barcelona's Port Olympic was built to co-incide with the 1992 Olympic Games. Once it was little more than a disused wasteland but the Olympic Games turned it into a prime piece of real estate on the coast and one of the most attractive areas of the city to visit, full of bars, restaurants, leisure facilities and modern sculptures.
Coralfish went there for a vacation and from her postcard you can see the Marina with white sailing boats and yachts, and two of the city's most instantly-recognisable buildings at the port: the Mapfre and Arts Hotel ("twin towers"). They were built as part of the Olympic Village to house athletes during the Games, but are now an office building and 5-star luxury hotel respectively. The beach below stretches south from the twin towers and is a favourite with visitors. Those who enjoy outdoor sports can surf and swim but many just lay on the golden colored sand. Hmm..heaven!
