Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter

Sender: Hu Kun

Text on card: Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter. This island eastern corridor leads Wanchai and Central. The new extension to the Convention and Exhibition Centre is in the right centre.

I read that decades ago, there were thousands of people living on boats in the typhoon shelter having their own distinct subculture. Today it has dwindled and little remains of the boat dweller's traditional way of life. Now there are many anchored luxury yachts and restaurants serving "typhoon shelter cuisine". Ahh, modernisation and the changes it brings....

Historical Regatta

Sender: Paolo
The Historical Regatta, Venice

Water is the element that most characterises Venice and its most famous festivity takes place on the waters of the Grand Canal. The event starts with a magnificent historical procession consisting of elaborately carved boats complete with hundreds odd figures in gorgeous brocade costumes.

Vannes

Sender: Lapoussine35
Vannes - The yachting port

Vannes is one of Brittany's must-visits. I've seen pictures of this town and I'd like to wander around its well-preserved medieval streets and also take a boat trip around the port...

Heart Of Islands

Sender: Snoes
A "Heart of Islands" from Snoes to envisage the wordings of a song I picked. I wonder if there is such a place in the world. If there is, it would be a perfect spot for honeymooners.
Love & Light, Snoes!

Washington Ferries

Sender: Otoko
Washington Ferries

Washington State Ferries is the largest ferry system in the United States, serving eight counties within Washington and the Province of British Columbia in Canada.

I love travelling by ferries in our own state of Penang, it is just a short crossing to Penang Island where people can bask in the sun and enjoy the fresh breeze and scenery. Very relaxing, if you are not in a hurry. But I wonder how long the crossing is, for Washington ferries. The ferries look huge, like a mini-cruise..

Rabelo

Sender: Miceu
Miceu writes that the Rabelo is a typical boat which can be seen at the old and traditional quay of Gaia.

Rabelo was used to transport barrels with port wine from Alto Douro to Vila Nova de Gaia - Porto, where the wine was stored, aged and then marketed and exported. Now they are used to transport people in trips along the Douro River, and to visit the Port Wine caves.
