The Princess Mononoke

Sender: Mitsuyo

The Princess Mononoke
(by the way, "Mononoke" is not a name, but a general term in Japanese for a spirit or monster)

A Studio Ghibli movie of a mystical battle between Animal Gods of the forest and humans. A lush visual delight.. As you can see by now, I am a big fan of Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli, and this is one of my favourite of all his films. Go watch it now!

Grave Of The Fireflies

Sender: Iris

A Studio Ghibli postcard, "Grave of the Fireflies" (Hotaru No Haka)

Set at the time of World War II, this animated movie is about the fates of two orphaned children who become casualties of war. I recommend you to watch it, if you haven't already. It is so moving, so beautiful, so sad, made me cry buckets..

Mei and Totoro

Sender: Magenta
"My Neighbour Totoro", a Studio Ghibli production.

Another of my favourite Studio Ghibli movie, "My Neighbour Totoro" tells the story of Satsuki and her little sister, Mei, and their encounter with Totoro, a forest spirit. This card shows Mei and Totoro.

A heartwarming story capturing the innocence and magic of childhood....do watch it, if you haven't already.

The Borrower Arietty

Sender: Hi-ro

I was over the moon to receive this Studio Ghibli card as I am such a fan of their movies! This is Arietty from "The Borrower Arietty" or "The Secret World of Arietty". I saw this movie last year.

Arietty is a tiny 14 year old (little people) and she lives with her parents in secret, hidden from the view of the human homeowners. They borrow simple things from the house they stay in to make their home. Do go and watch the movie! I found it beautiful and meaningful.

Hi-ro writes that Studio Ghibli works are very popular in her country. Well, Hi-ro, I think they are internationally renowned!

Text on card: Wake me up when your postcard comes

I am a real fan of Studio Ghibli animated movies (have seen all of them!!) and I've longed for a Studio Ghibli card since forever. Happy to receive it finally! This cards shows a scene from "Laputa, Castle In The Sky".

It tells of a couple of kids searching for the mythical flying castle. It's a sweet whimsical magical story....
Studio Ghibli movies do bring out the child in me........................ :-)
