Moulin Rouge

Sender: Goyesca
F is for FRIVOLITY!
Moulin Rouge, Paris.

I only passed by this area during my stay in Paris. Basically me & my pals just gawked at the sights through the window of our slowly driven cab.

It was too cold and rainy for us to venture out & walk along those streets, despite the cabbie's vehement pleas for us to do so & experience...err..something different & exciting behind the doors of the buildings. Alas, by that time we had already walked miles and miles at a religious historical attraction uphill and the cold had really really killed our excitement for any kind of nightlife. All we wanted to do by then was to return to our apartment for dinner & then hit the beds! The cabbie could not believe us! Haha!

Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter

Sender: Hu Kun

Text on card: Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter. This island eastern corridor leads Wanchai and Central. The new extension to the Convention and Exhibition Centre is in the right centre.

I read that decades ago, there were thousands of people living on boats in the typhoon shelter having their own distinct subculture. Today it has dwindled and little remains of the boat dweller's traditional way of life. Now there are many anchored luxury yachts and restaurants serving "typhoon shelter cuisine". Ahh, modernisation and the changes it brings....

Fireworks at Taipei 101

Sender: Wei Ying

Text on card: Festivals excel at providing a main theme for marketing a city. With fireworks and the New Year's countdown - and now with Taipei 101, the world's tallest building - the New Year's celebration in Taipei attracts the world's notice year after year.

(Taipei 101 has been outranked by now. I think currently the world's tallest building is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.)

Taipei City

Sender: Lisa
Taipei City At Night

Taipei 101 can clearly be seen towering over every building. The 101-floor, 508-meter high skyscraper is designed to resemble bamboo rising from the earth, a plant recognized in Asian cultures for its fast growth and flexibility.

Marina Bay Sands

Sender: Boon
Marina Bay Sands
Bayfront Avenue Singapore

This card brought memories! I went down south to Singapore with 2 other shopaholic gal pals and stayed there for a few days. Shopping, shopping and more shopping...and evenings filled with merriment. On one occasion we had dinner at The Moluccas Room, Marina Bay Sands and cocktails at the KU DÉ TA sky bar (200 meters up!) which offered a spectacular night view. Nothing beats a holiday with gal pals of the same crazy minds! :D
