One of the two major waterways in the Park is the Merced River, which carries rainwater and snow melt from the high Sierras and drains the southern part of the Park. Arising high in the Sierra backcountry, it flows through the heart of the Yosemite Valley.

'S' - for the couple 'Strolling' on a 'Scary' path overlooking the 'Sea'! Historically, this is a trail created between two Cinque Terre towns, Riomaggiore and Manarola, which helped bring lovers from the separate towns  together. The Pathway of Love or something like that. Awwww..I'm a sucker for romantic tales (heart melting).

WSR informed that he bought a shoebox full of hundreds of postcards at an estate sale. And this postcard was one of them. Wasn't he lucky? I don't think I can ever get postcards for sale at the flea markets or car boot sales here! :)

Quinault Rain Forest

'Q' is for the 'Quinault' Rain Forest

Text on card: The QUINAULT RAIN FOREST with its mild temperatures, summer fog, long growing season, and abundant rainfall help make this forest at Cannings Creek a most fertile varied garden of growing organisms. Some of the largest trees of their kind, festooned with mosses, lichen and ferns grow in the Quinault Valley. Parasitic and Saprophytic plants abound here.

Text on card: The seemingly placid waters of the North Fork of the Virgin River were almost entirely responsible for the erosion that created the Zion Canyon visitors see today. Transporting more than one million tons of sediments per year, the river is often referred to as being an endless, moving belt of sandpaper. Less than 200 miles in length, the Virgin River ultimately deposits its load of sediment into the waters of Lake Mead.

FlagGazer writes that this rock formation is a favourite for rock climbers. I futher read that if you're not afraid of heights, you can take a side trail down to the right to a precipice opposite Monkey Face's cave-mouth.

Uralla

Text on card: Captain Thunderbolt's Statue and "Thunderbolt's Rock" - Frederick Wordsworth Ward, self-titled Captain Thunderbolt, was injured in a skirmish with police close to this rock in 1863. Today it is covered in graffiti dating from the late 1800's to the present. It is situated about 6km south of Uralla on the New England Highway and is clearly sign-posted.

These are ancient species of trees. Tasmanian rainforest dates back over 60 million years.
