Peñafrancia Festival, Naga City, Bicol, Phillipines

The Festival is held every 3rd Sunday of September in honour of the Virgin of Peñafrancia, the Miraculous patron saint of the Bicol Region. A nine-day novena is done in honour of the Virgin. On the ninth day, the image of the Virgin is paraded in a colourful fluvial procession on the Bicol river in downtown Naga. When it reaches the Basilica of Our Lady of Peñafrancia, the devotees shout, "Viva la Virgen!"

In my country, traditional wear is also worn for work, but the more elaborately designed ones are worn for festivals or particular holidays :)

Óbidos

Óbidos is a medieval village. Its name comes from the Latin term ‘oppidum’ meaning fortified city, and is believed to have been occupied by the Romans during the early days. It is a beautiful place with its cobblestone streets that are lined with beautiful houses and churches and colorful flowers such as bougainvillea and geraniums.
