Velké Losiny

Sender: Ivana
Velké Losiny, Czech Republic
Its most popular tourist sites are the château, the spa and the handmade paper mill, the oldest in Europe.

I tried to translate the text in Czech language on the card and I think this is a Baroque-style room showing a sculpture by Johann Joachim Kändler (1706 – 1775)

Al-Attarine Madrasa

Sender: Me, Myself & I!

The Al-Attarine Madrasa is a madrasa (educational institution) in Fez, Morocco. It is located in the spiritual centre of Fez, near the Mosque of al-Qarawiyyin. The madrasa's location at the entrance to the spice and perfume market gives al-Attarine, the madrasa of the perfumers, its name. It was commissioned by the Marinid Sultan Uthman II b. Ya'qub, Abu Sa'id (r. 1310-31) in 1323/723 AH and completed in 1325/725 AH.

I was here with two other friends during our vacation in Morocco about 3 weeks ago. It is one of the most beautifully decorated buildings I've ever seen!

The Great Gatsby

Sender: SssharonL
The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan

I first read this book at school as it was part of our extensive English books reading list. I remember being puzzled about the plot and the main protagonists, thinking why did people outside school lead such complicated lives?! Haha!

Good Opinion Once lost

Sender: Emotis
A quote from one of my favourite books, "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen

"I am perfectly convinced by it that Mr. Darcy has no defect. He owns it himself without disguise."

"No," said Darcy, "I have made no such pretension. I have faults enough, but they are not, I hope, of understanding. My temper I dare not vouch for. It is, I believe, too little yielding- certainly too little for the convenience of the world. I cannot forget the follies and vices of other so soon as I ought, nor their offenses against myself. My feelings are not puffed about with every attempt to move them. My temper would perhaps be called resentful. My good opinion once lost is lost forever."

"That is a failing indeed!" cried Elizabeth. "Implacable resentment is a shade in a character. But you have chosen your fault well. I really cannot laugh at it. You are safe from me."

The Letters From No One

Sender: Emotis
A scene from "Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone".

On Sunday morning, Uncle Vernon sat down at the breakfast table looking tired and rather ill, but happy. "No post on Sundays, " he reminded them cheerfully as he spread marmalade on his newspapers, "No damn letters today...."

Something came whizzing down the kitchen chimney as he spoke and caught him sharply on the back of the head.

Next moment, thirty or forty letters came pelting out of the fireplace like bullets. The Dursleys ducked, but Harry leapt into the air trying to catch one.

"Out! OUT!" Uncle Vernon seized Harry around the waist and threw him into the hall.
