Text on Card: Sunken Cemetery, Barangay Bonbo, Catarman, Camiguin. A huge cross was installed in 1982 to mark the communities cemetery that sank during the eruption of Mount Vulcan Daan in 1871. Every November, a fluvial procession is held in honour of the watery graves of their forefathers and thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest.
I read that the whole of Camiguin, with its cemetery, was sunk under the sea and that the large cross was built on solidified lava to mark the site. Now, it is one of the world's most unique diving sites.
