Joseph Henry Sharp (27 September 1859–29 August 1953) was an American painter and a founding member of the Taos Society of Artists. He specialised in portraits of Indians and larger paintings of Indian life figures.
I love his attention to details. Look at the moccasins for instance, and the almost hidden dog under the bench and the different mannerisms of the people, wrapped in blankets. I wonder what they were waiting for or talking about..love this painting..
