Gemert Castle

Sender: Lamber Peters
A view of Kasteel Gemert (Gemert Castle)

The municipality of Gemert-Bakel in Netherlands consists of Gemert, Bakel, Elsendorp, Handel, Milheeze, De Mortel and De Rips. Lamber Peters comes from Gemert and wrote that Gemert Castle is very beautiful. I think the grounds are too, looking at the picture.

I read that Gemert Castle is very old, dating from the Late Middle Ages, in the medieval days of knights. The castle was founded by German knights who lived in it for several hundreds of years. But it is now a monastery occupied by monks and nuns.
