Estonian landscape

Sender: ellgee

1) Viru Bog, Lahemaa
2) Cliff-lined Coast of Estonia

1) Lahemaa translates roughly as "Land of Bays". Lahemaa National Park is one of the main tourism attractions in Estonia and Viru Bog is part of this National Park. One can actually follow the Viru Bog Nature Trail, a 3.5 kilometer nature trail, via a wooden walkway built right on top of the bog.

2) I read that since human activity is concentrated in the bigger Estonian towns and cities, much of the country's natural environment remains untouched. The northern coast of Estonia is a beautiful, towering cliff face (in some places up to 56 metres above sea level!). Hikers can get to the impressive limestone walls from both above and below, as there are set trails winding their way all along the cliffs, and from which they can absorb stunning views over the sea and along the coastline.

A treat for nature lovers!
