Baltimore

Sender: Sherrie

Text on card: Baltimore. Camden Yards. Oriole Park at Candem Yards has set the standard for quaint, old-fashioned American baseball stadiums with all the modern amenities. An original B&O Railroad warehouse tempts power swinging left handers with a huge brick wall beyond right field. Baltimore's Convention Centre and the Inner Harbour are in the distance.

Errol Flynn

Sender: Ireneintheworld
'E' is for 'Errol Flynn'

I was overjoyed to receive an Athena postcard. In my teens, Athena airbrushed posters adorned my bedroom walls, they were the craze back then. Airbrushed chic, sophisticated, glamorous women faces with shiny red lips and striking eye make-up! Now oh, so retro! Thanks to Irene for bringing back my teenage memories :)

Errol Flynn (20 June 1909 – 14 October 1959), I best remember him as Robin Hood although there were other swashbuckling adventures in which he starred. I love classic movies and when I was living abroad, I used to hoard a particular TV channel which showed many of that genre late at night or on weekends, including Errol Flynn movies. He was so heroic, athletic, dashing, a real Hollywood symbol in his heyday. And I prefer to leave out the negative reports on his real life persona for he is long gone now.

"If you like a thing once, try it twice." ~ Errol Flynn

Irene! I really love this card you sent!! :D
Why oh why are the stamps covered by the airmail sticker? I want to see the stamps, I'm sure I haven't seen those ones before!

Monkey & His Groceries

Sender: CardsGoRound

Text on card: Don't just watch TV, interact with it. Monkey is shown celebrating the arrival of his grocery delivery. Thanks to ITV Active he was able to shop for it all online! He can interact with some of his favourite TV programmes, surf millions of site, email friends, order a pizza or do a big food shop without the queues. Wise monkey.

ROTFLOL! I laughed till my tears came out after reading this funny card received in the Weird RR. Wise monkey indeed! I'm a couch potato and if I have that ITV Active facility here, would I be a worse couch potato or would that render me wise as per such monkey? Hahahaha! Thanks to CardsGoRound for this rib-tickling card! :D

Bretagne

Sender: Lapoussine35
Text on Card: The Glories of Bretagne. The end of the earth.

I read that Bretagne (Brittany) occupies a peninsula at the northwestern corner of France, separating La Manche (the English Channel) from the Golfe de Gascogne (Bay of Biscay). Brittany’s coast is both rugged and indented and there are many cliffs, capes, islands, rocks and reefs. In this card two lighthouses can be seen. I read further that Brittany alone accounts for more than one third of all the lighthouses and fire towers illuminating the French coast. Wow, that is a lot!

Sunrise, Mount Cook

Sender: Lyndle
Text on card: Sunrise, Mount Cook. A mountain of many magical moods - here Mount Cook reflects its tranquility and power under the light of the morning sun.

A beautiful view!! I wish I'm actually there watching the sunrise. New Zealand is definitely in my wishlist of places to travel to.

Kapa Haka: KAPA: to stand in a row or rank. HAKA: to dance. "Kapa haka" is commonly used to describe modern day performance of traditional and contemporary Maori song. I've never seen an actual performance, just on TV.

Witney

Sender: Duplevista
'W' is for 'Witney'!
Witney - The Cotswolds -England
Witney's fame and fortune grew from the weaving industry which was established here from early times.

Witney is the largest town in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds. It looks like a peaceful, tranquil haven. But somehow it brings to my mind the TV series, "Midsomer Murders" which I used to follow diligently! I can just picture Inspector Barnaby striding through this street, on his way to solve yet another murder mystery :)

Monument Valley, Utah

Sender: Porenda
Monument Valley Tribal Park as seen from Key Hole Window.

I read that this park has sandstone masterpieces that tower at heights of 400 to 1,000 feet because natural forces of wind and water eroded the land in the last 50 million years, cutting in to and peeling away at the surface of the desert. This is the kind of place I really want to visit. So much to see, all different from my own homeland.

Trust the postal service to fold and crease this postcard! Argh!
