Foreshore, Cairns

Sender: Millierose
Foreshore, Cairns, Australia

The highlight of the Cairns Foreshore Promenade is the 4800-sq-m saltwater swimming lagoon, a feat in landscape architecture bringing the beach-cum-swimming experience to the heart of the city. Fitness enthusiasts blade, cycle or just walk the 3km Esplanade Walking Trail, and travellers meander lazily up and down the Esplanade, popping into restaurants and shops until the wee hours.

Nationalpark Wattenmeer

Sender: Alienne
Nationalpark Wattenmeer

The Wadden Sea National Parks (in English), are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and located along the German coast of the North Sea. Named after the Wadden Sea, they consist of three national parks. Alienne writes that the birds are common redshanks, looking for food in the mud flats. Love the view! I guess it is around sunset?

Les Rotes is one of the beaches on Spain's Costa Blanca coast, perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving. Nordbaer wrote that he used to be a camper, but not anymore. Me? I've never been camping out in the open where overnight stays have to be done  :)

The White Book

Sender: Wilma
Soizick Meister "Strandbuch"
The White Book. 12 x 10 inches.

This card made my day as Wilma chose it based on my love for reading and beaches!

Soizick Meister is a Swiss freelance Canadian artist/illustrator living in Vancouver, Canada. This is one of her conceptual illustrations. I realise now that I have received a postcard of her work before, called "The Reader" which I loved but did not realise the artist's identity.

Wicker Beach Chair

Sender: Alienne
Text on card: Wicker Beach Chair in Ahrenshoop on the Darss.

Ahrenshoop is a popular Baltic resort. Most of the Darss is covered by woodlands but this card shows part of its coastline. Funny how we can look at a beach view and know that it is not a beach in our home country...Maybe it's something about the sand, the landscape...and  for sure, that wicker chair! We don't have wicker chairs by our beaches :)

I tried to translate the words on the card, "Children enjoying the moments which a few of us question?" Now, is that correct? :)

Looe

Sender: Ichabodhides
Text on card: The Harbour Entrance and Banjo Pier Looe, South-East Cornwall.

I read that Looe was an important major Cornish fishing port, and is still with a sizeable fleet and busy fish market. Tourists can catch a boat from the quayside to nearby Looe Island, or visit Cornwall's second busiest fish market. Looe's narrow streets have much to enjoy too.
Happy to get a Roald Dahl stamp!
