Russian Famous Rulers
Ooh, this is wonderful, I remember learning about some of them in college. This card speaks for itself. Now, whose face will be up next on the card after the elections in March 2012?

University of Glasgow

I love this card, it brought fond memories of visits to an old pal who studied here. I envied her for studying in this beautiful environment. She is now such a powerhouse lady :)

Jiufen (Jioufen)

Sender: Vickie Tsai
Jiufen (Jioufen) is a small town in the north of Taiwan. It used to be the centre of gold mining.
When the mining activities discontinued, the town was forgotten. Later, several movies were filmed here inclusive of "A City of Sadness", which won first prize in the Venice Film Festival and Jiufen is now a popular tourist destination .

Chinese Tea Cups

Sender: Alexcui
Chinese tea cups

The Chinese believe that the simple act of preparing and drinking a cup of tea can refresh and comfort the body, mind and spirit. And in Chinese society, the younger generation always show their respect to the older generation by offering a cup of tea. Alex offered me good tea in a big bowl if I visit Beijing one day. Alex, xièxiè! -jiějiě -

Vouvray Monopole

Sender: Monkeyflower
A vintage poster by Mathilde A. Herouard, "Vouvray Monopole" 1910

Mount St Helens
Prior to the massive eruption on May 18, 1980, Mount St. Helens towered majestically above Spirit Lake. Today, the changing landscape of Mount St Helens displays the awesome power of the earth to tear down and rebuild along with the amazing tenacity of life to survive and renew.

This is my longest postcard to date!

Novodevichy Convent

Sender: funny duck
The Novodevichy Convent, Moscow.

Founded in 1524 by Grand Duke Vasily III to celebrate the recapture of Smolensk from the Lithuanians. It was used by women of the Tsar’s family and the aristocracy. Members of the Tsar’s family and entourage were also buried in its cemetery. The convent provides an example of the highest accomplishments of Russian architecture with rich interiors and an important collection of paintings and artefacts. In 2004, it was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Postcrossing Postcard from Utrecht

Sender: Sophie54
A multi-signed Postcrossing Postcard from a meet-up in Utrecht, Netherlands. I recognise many names who are on the Postcrossing Forum. And I noted that the postcrossing stamp even has a postcard with a view of the Petronas Twin Towers! TQ, Sophie!  :-)

I adore this round card entitled "Poppy Wood" from Santoro Graphics designed by Suzanne Woolcott . The girl is so cute and she has gloss varnish on detailed areas. Heart warming!

Hanging On For Dear Life

Sender: Liris
This kitten is hanging on for his dear life! Someone rescue it, quick! :)

Cueva de las Calaveras

Sender: xenia-benidorm

The Calaveras (skulls) Cave is the main attraction of the village of Benidoleig. The cave obtained its name from the 12 skulls that were found in its interior when it was discovered in 1768. Bronze and Neolithic remains have also been discovered in the cave. The entrance is 70 metres above sea level and the cave extends for 440 metres, the visitors’ path being over 300 m in length. In it are stalactites, stalagmites and large domes, more than 50 metres high and the path leads to an inner lake.

I've been to only one cave thus far, in Somerset, England. I'd love to explore Calaveras Cave in Spain too!

A Snowy Fence

Sender: Michele

Christmas wreaths on a snowy fence, a very X'massy scene! Seasons greetings and a happy new year to everyone!

Antwerp Diamond Museum

Sender: Bobsinblack
Text on card: A visit to the Diamond Museum in Antwerp, a brilliant idea.

Bonjour Udo! Yes, diamonds are my best friends too (!!!) and if I do visit this museum, can I get them for free? :D

Marilyn Monroe: Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend

"The French are glad to die for love.
They delight in fighting duels.
But I prefer a man who lives
And gives expensive jewels.

A kiss on the hand
May be quite continental,
But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

A kiss may be grand
But it won't pay the rental
On your humble flat
Or help you at the automat.

Men grow cold
As girls grow old,
And we all lose our charms in the end.

But square-cut or pear-shaped,
These rocks don't lose their shape.
Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Tiffany's!
Cartier!
Black Starr!
Frost Gorham!
Talk to me Harry Winston.
Tell me all about it!

There may come a time
When a lass needs a lawyer,
But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

There may come a time
When a hard-boiled employer
Thinks you're awful nice,
But get that ice or else no dice.

He's your guy
When stocks are high,
But beware when they start to descend.

It's then that those louses
Go back to their spouses.
Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

I've heard of affairs
That are strictly platonic,
But diamonds are a girl's best friend.

And I think affairs
That you must keep liaisonic
Are better bets
If little pets get big baguettes.

Time rolls on,
And youth is gone,
And you can't straighten up when you bend.

But stiff back
Or stiff knees,
You stand straight at Tiffany's.

Diamonds! Diamonds!
I don't mean rhinestones!
But diamonds are a girl's best friend!"

Maydan Nezalezhnosti

Sender: nika_bp
Text on card: Maydan Nezalezhnosti - the main square of the capital after the reconstruction of 2002.

Nika writes that the building with columns in the centre of the view is the main post office where she buys cards & stamps and does her mailing. Such a grand post office building.

I do my mailing at the postboxes scattered in my sleepy little town. And the main post office here occupies a small shoplot in an equally small shopping complex. Blink and you'll miss it!!

Schwäbisch Hall

Sender: StarrySky
Schwäbisch Hall

'O' is for 'Open air festival'!

Schwäbisch Hall is a town with 37,000 inhabitants, medieval buildings, winding laneways, and has one of Germany's most beautiful market squares. It is renowned for its outdoor summer theater performances on the open-air staircase at St. Michael's and at the Globe Theater. I would enjoy those type of performances!

A Woman, Waiting

Sender: Monkeyflower

A lovely handmade card by Monkeyflower! I feel as if the woman is waiting for something or someone. Love? The perfect man?

From "A Woman Waiting to Happen"
"I'm a woman waiting to happen
I'm a lover waiting to dream
I'm a mountain waiting to be climbed
I'm an eagle ready to scream
I'm a story waiting to be told
I'm a child awaiting to be held
I'm a tear awaiting to fall
On the face of a stranger standing next to me
And I'm a song awaiting to be sung
I'm a prayer awaiting an answer
I'm a horizon kissing the dawn
I'm a star shining like I've never shone
I'm a page about to be turned
I'm a dance about to begin
I'm a moment awaiting eternity
I'm a whisper awaiting a sigh
And I'm a river awaiting the ocean
I'm a baby waiting to crawl
And I'm a heart waiting to fall
I'm a heart waiting to fall
I'm a heart heart waiting to fall
I'm a heart waiting to fall
In love with you..."

It's true, a picture can paint a thousand words!

The Hardworking Hedgehog

Sender: nvpsv
nvpsv writes that 'K' is for 'Keyboard'!

Hedgehogs are believed to have a hard-working nature, with a "no-nonsense" attitude. Well, looking at the card, that cute little hedgehog is presumably hard working, studying hard to be an ace student, soon to win many awards in its education :)
