Desert Roadway through the Saguaros.
Sections of Arizona are covered with thousands of these majestic and beautiful cactus formations.
I learnt two new words from the Alphabet RR: xeric and saguaro. Alcott1 sent this card for the 'X' group, 'X' for 'Xeric' ~ meaning not requiring much water. A 'Saguaro' is a very large cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) of the southwest United States and northern Mexico, having ribbed upward-curving branches, white funnel-shaped flowers, and edible red fruit. I have never seen a saguaro in my life but we have potted cactus plants of the tame and friendly-sized variety here!
