Dala Horses

Sender: Alienne

Alienne writes that these are wooden horses, homely accessories for the local people and popular with tourists. And I would like to get one!

Dala Horses (aka Dalarna) are small wooden horses traditionally carved from scrap wood during long winter nights, as part of a 300 year old Swedish tradition. An unofficial Swedish national symbol, traditional Dala horses usually have red paint with details in contrasting colours. Because they are carved by hand, no two horses are exactly alike.
