Lady Medical Students

Sender: TeamBearCat
The University of Arizona
Text on card: The university and an appropriation of $25,000 was the consolation prize given Tucson by the 13th Territorial Legislature of 1885. Ground was broken on October 27, 1887, and the doors to Old Main opened on October 1, 1891. Uncommon in the 1890s, women medical students studied anatomy in Old Main.

Kudos to the ladies for pioneering the way for other women to study medicine at university. They must have a strict dress code to conform to then. I really can't imagine having to attend lectures and practicals in those billowing skirts and sleeves.
