Metallic wood-boring beetles (family Buprestidae), shining leaf scarabs (family Scarabaeidae, subfamily Rutelinae), tortoise beetles and leaf beetles (family Chrysomelidae) and ladybird beetles (family Coccinellidae) from Indonesia, France, Australia and Thailand. 3 - 45 mm (1/8 - 1 3/4 in.) long.
Christopher Marley, Oregon based artist. Apparently his fascination for insects actually began out of a fear of bugs, but eventually grew into an appreciation for their beauty. He does not digitally enhance any of the images of the insects here, the iridescent natural colours of the beetle's shells are his pigments for his art composition. Aren't they super cool??
